Selectboard

The Selectboard is the main elected executive board for the Town of Bernardston, responsible for setting policy and strategic direction for the Town.  The Selectboard is made up of three members, usually serving staggered three-year terms. The Selectboard works with and through the Town Administrator.  

Responsibilities

• The Select Board has many responsibilities, including:

  • Policy: Setting policy and strategic direction for the town 

     

  • Coordination: Coordinating the activities of other boards 

     

  • Appeals: Hearing appeals and resolving problems

     

  • Licensing: Issuing and renewing licenses for various categories 

     

  • Budget: Reviewing and setting fiscal guidelines for the annual operating budget and capital improvements program

     

  • Bylaws: Enforcing Town bylaws and regulations
