Open Space & Recreation Committee

The Open Space and Recreation Committee is dedicated to preserving Bernardston’s natural resources and enhancing recreational opportunities for residents. The committee works to identify, protect, and maintain open spaces such as forests, fields, waterways, and conservation lands, while also planning for parks, trails, and recreational facilities that support community well-being.
A key responsibility of the committee is developing and updating the town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP). This plan serves as a roadmap for conservation and recreation priorities, ensures public input is incorporated into decision-making, and makes the town eligible for state and federal grant funding. Through collaboration with local boards, commissions, and residents, the committee helps balance growth with sustainability, ensuring that Bernardston’s landscapes and recreational resources remain accessible and vibrant for generations to come.
