Cushman Library Board of Trustees

Cushman Library and the residents of Bernardston are well served by the twelve people who have been elected to perform the duties of the Board of Trustees. The Cushman Library Board of Trustees generally meets at the library monthly. All meetings are open and meeting dates are posted on the Town website calendar. 

The mission of the Bernardston Cushman Library Board of Trustees is to govern the library and ensure that it provides the best possible services to the local community and are responsible for:  

• Establishing the library's mission and vision
• Creating policies to govern the library
• Hiring and evaluating the library director
• Overseeing the library's general management
• Ensuring the library represents the local community well
• Keeping the public informed about the library
   

The Cushman Library Boards of Trustees works closely with the Library Director, who is responsible for the library's daily operations. The board acts as a public trust agent, while the director implements the board's policies and objectives under the board's direction and review.
